Award Recipient Debra Gibb Vice President of Operations ProfitLine, Inc. |
The name Debra Gibb is a familiar one in the San Diego technology circle. Thanks to a career that spans more than 20 years in implementing and reengineering technology and business operations for a range of companies that include both large, global firms and emerging start-ups, Gibb is sought out for her knowledge and experience.
Gibb has served in senior information technology and operations positions at ProfitLine, Qualcomm, CollegeClub.com, First Virtual Holdings, BioData, and ComputerLand. She has been responsible for overseeing strategic technology planning, product development, and the integration of technologies into business operations in a way that assures a best practices approach to supporting client and partner relationships as companies develop.
In her current position at ProfitLine, a telecom administrative outsourcing provider, Gibb is executing a complete operations restructuring. She is leading the firm into uncharted territory with a new technology. She does this with skill and grace as she not only has the technical knowledge of the system but can also recalibrate her strategy and her team as new challenges present themselves. As her former company, CollegeClub.com, the number one college-oriented Web site among 18-24 year olds, Gibb and her team built a communication and community portal that provided e-commerce and academic features targeted to this highly valued demographic.
While her credentials are impressive, even more notable is the way in which she achieves results. Her strength is providing solid leadership and direction that leverages technology and people. She makes her team feel smart, included and valuable.
Gibb was one of the many who rode the dot.com wave and witnessed it crash around her. But she still believes in the power of the entrepreneurial spirit and continues to encourage and inspire the special people that start and build companies.
Gibb realizes that for San Diego to thrive, the market always needs fresh ideas and people willing to take a chance. She continues to help motivate, create and inspire these people through her actions, her professionalism and her work.
